As a longtime resident of North Charleston, I’ve grown concerned about the high unemployment and the lack of focus on education and opportunity.
I am running for the State Senate to forge new solutions. We must create better, high-paying jobs. We need to work closely with the economic engines in our back yard – The Port of Charleston, Boeing, MUSC and the airport are all in our district – to make sure that we all see the economic benefit from these investments in our community.
But that is just the start. We need to make sure the schools provide our children with the education, motivation and skills they need to enter the workforce. We need to work closely with teachers, parents and community leaders to ensure that our schools are safe environments that reflect the values of our community, set high standards, and empower our children to achieve.
As our government has grown, it has become more distant from the core needs of our communities. Partisan bickering and insider deal-making have replaced neighborhood-based constituent services and a focus on the issues that affect us all.
Please support me with your vote on Tuesday, October 1st. You can trust that I will work for you as your Senator.
